Television Segments Feature Raised Floors Three series of television segments promoting raised floors will debut in the coming weeks. One series features the raised floor homes built through Project Home Again in New Orleans, and the other two are based on work being done by SPC and APA with Habitat for Humanity affiliates in Mobile, Ala., and Vero Beach, Fla. The segments featuring Project Home Again will air every other Tuesday beginning March 3 during the morning news broadcast on CBS affiliate WWL-TV of New Orleans. The Mobile Habitat segments debut March 15 on CBS affiliate WKRG-TV and appear weekly for 17 weeks, rotating between the morning and evening news broadcasts. The spots will also make a 12-week run during “Today’s Homebuilder” on Saturday mornings. Beginning March 31, the segments produced in conjunction with the Vero Beach Habitat project will be seen on five consecutive Tuesdays during the “Today Show” on NBC affiliate WPTV-TV in West Palm Beach, Fla. The segments are each two minutes long.
SFPA Vice President of Communications Richard Wallace and APA’s C.W. Macomber shot two segments for the Vero Beach series this week. Richard explains Raised Floor Living’s involvement with the Habitat projects and C.W. discussed the wind-resistance of wood-frame homes. Richard will promote Southern Pine outdoor decking products at the JLC Live Residential Construction Show, March 20-21 at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence, R.I. · Russell Richardson, director of industrial markets, will showcase raised floors at LAT’s 123rd Annual Convention, April 2-4 at the Galveston Island Convention Center in Galveston, Texas. FPS Convention to Focus on Sustainable Products An item on the agenda for this year’s Forest Products Society convention might be of special interest to SFPA members. In the convention’s general session, attendees will hear from leading architecture firms on the innovative uses of forest products and sustainable design. Meeting organizers say the speakers will highlight some of their creative projects and then challenge attendees to develop forest products with new attributes, forms, assembly methods, aesthetics and sustainability metrics. “This will be a stimulating forum to help forest products industry, academic and government professionals explore new uses and architectural applications for wood materials,” said FPS in a news release. The 63rd International Convention will be held June 21-23 at the Doubletree Hotel Boise-Riverside in Boise, Idaho. Click here for more information. |
